Dental crowns protect damaged teeth, prevent further oral health complications, and restore your smile and your bite. Dental bridges, which use two dental crowns to support one or more false teeth, are also a great option for restoring missing teeth. To see if crowns or bridges from AT Dental Care San Jose may be right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Tuan today.

Lab-Made Dental Crowns
Crowns are usually made of porcelain, and they are very strong and durable. Crowns are usually used to treat issues like cracked or damaged teeth, or serious cavities. Not only will your dental crown restore your smile and your bite, but it will also protect the underlying tooth from any further damage.

the placement process
For Crowns & Bridges
Then, using a dental drill, Dr. Tuan will remove any damaged enamel from each tooth that is receiving a crown. The remaining enamel will be sculpted into a strong, stable platform onto which your crown can be attached.
Once your teeth have been trimmed, Dr. Tuan will take images and impressions of your teeth, and you’ll be sent home with a temporary crown or bridge to cover up your newly-trimmed teeth until your next appointment. Next, our partner dental lab will work with Dr. Tuan to create your crown or bridge.
It usually takes less than a week to create a dental crown. Bridges may take longer, and require you to come back for multiple fittings, in some cases. Once your crown or bridge has been completed, you’ll come back to our office for your final appointment. Dr. Tuan will check the crown or bridge one last time and make any necessary minor adjustments, then bond your restoration in place with dental cement, completing the procedure.

For Crowns or Bridges?
If you have a tooth that has been damaged by dental trauma or tooth decay, or a large, old, worn-out filling, a crown is usually the best way to restore your smile and protect your teeth.
Dental bridges, on the other hand, are not always the most recommended way to restore your smile. Dental implants are often a better option. This is because implants last longer, are more durable, and do not require any removal of healthy enamel to make room for dental crowns. To find out which treatment is right for you, we recommend scheduling an appointment with Dr. Tuan.
